Opening (2-3 minutes)
Welcome everyone! My name is Cody, and I'm walking this codependency recovery journey with all of you. Thanks for showing up today - both for yourselves and for each other.
Let's start with a brief moment of stillness to center ourselves, and then the CoDA Opening Prayer:
In the spirit of love and truth, we ask our Higher Power to guide us as we share our experience, strength and hope.
We open our hearts to the light of wisdom, the warmth of love, and the joy of acceptance.
Guidelines (1-2 minutes)
- Please silence your phones so we can all stay present with each other
- During the main sharing time, we practice "no crosstalk" - giving each person the gift of being fully heard without interruption or advice
- After everyone has shared, we'll have our usual cross-talk session where we can connect more directly and offer different perspectives
Check-in & Icebreaker (5-10 minutes)
Let's check in: For our check-in this morning, I'd like us to share: Tell us about one moment you felt peace in the past week
((facilitator shares briefly, then invites others to go next))
Topic/Question Time (30-40 minutes)
Topic/Question Time: Today we're exploring Question 12 - Read the section “What is the difference between being codependent and being thoughtful?” on page 122. Read the section on pages 110-114 “What are boundaries?”. Let's take turns sharing our experiences with this. Remember, there's no right or wrong way to share - just what's true for you.
((Individual sharing time))
Open Discussion (10-15 minutes)
Open Discussion: Now that everyone has had a chance to share, let's open the floor for our cross-talk session. This is where we can ask questions, offer perspectives, or connect something in your story to something in mine. Remember, we're not here to fix each other - just to walk alongside one another.
- Share personal experiences related to this topic
- Discuss challenges and successes
- Offer support and encouragement to others
- Explore practical strategies and solutions
Wrapping Up (3-5 minutes)
Wrapping Up:
- Lindsey is leading our meeting next week.
Let's close with the CoDA prayer:
We thank our Higher Power for all that we have received from the meeting.
As we close, may we take with us the wisdom, love, acceptance, and the hope of recovery.
And together, the Serenity Prayer:
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.
Grant me patience with the changes that take time
Appreciation of all that I have
Tolerance of those with different struggles
And the strength to get up and try again
One day at a time.
